History of Hypnotherapy (Hypnotism).

I have created this page on my web site to get the ball rolling, but it requires some serious attention.

Hypnosis, Hypnotism, Hypnotherapy have been around since the beginning of the world, as it is a natural occurrence.

There have been people and civilisations throughout the ages who have used it to a great advantage, however there have been people and civilisations who have abused its power and found to their cost, that the law of reverse action kicks into effect and pulls the rug from beneath them at a later stage.  The rule of cause and effect.

Jesus (if he ever existed) could have been classed as the greatest hypnotist the world had ever seen.  However Hitler used the power of Hypnosis in an unethical way and in the end his empire was destroyed, have you ever seen the mass rallies, the use of the salute, chanting and flags.

I am sure that if you looked into the written records for all the great civilisations, you will find reference to hypnotism in some form or other, but with different labels and terminology.

I am sure that somewhere on the walls of the Egyptian temples you will find reference to hypnotism and its power, whether on a conscious or an unconscious level.

In the last thousand years people have documented hypnotherapy in a way that other people can understand it and use it’s power.

James Braid  (1795-1860) came up with the term hypnosis from the “Greek God of sleep” and this terminology has stuck over the ages.

Emile Coue a french chemist came up with the affirmation “Every day in every way, I am getting better and better” and the placebo effect, what you believe becomes reality.

In more recent times Milton Erickson used hypnotherapy in his work, using much indirect language, taking hypnotherapy to the next level.  However his techniques were probably used by other people before him, who hadn’t realised or knew full well what they were doing, but hadn’t documented it.

I will keep updating this page as I go along, to make it more interesting and informative.
