There is a good mix of both Ballroom and Sequence dances, in alternate pairs with a short break between to catch your breath. Foxtrot, quickstep, Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Tango, Samba. 50% of the dances are sequence, so the variety is complete and never the same.
Just before the interval things warm up a little, however for the more ambitious dancer there is a chance to really stretch your legs and show what you can do in the interval, with further recorded music. While the rest of us catch our breaths. An assortment of drinks and food can be purchased all afternoon from the bar area.
Most people eagerly await the Mayfair quick step after the interval and usually the floor is well used.
Whether you want to dance or just admire the other dancers, what better venue could you find in the North of England to wind back time. Dancing seems to have even caught the eye of the younger generation, with “Strictly Come Dancing”. There are still quite a few characters in the Sheffield City Hall, but it isn’t quite so Strictly, because people come to enjoy themselves as well as impress.
The dance is very well attended on a Saturday afternoon, but it would be nicer to see a few younger people attending, as I would like the chance to dance also with a few young ladies who are more my age. If there are any ladies out there in there middle 40′s please let me know! But it would also be nice to see even younger people there as well.
