class="wp-caption-text">Paradise Sq.

South Anston has more of a village feel to it, with quite a few shops. It also has two church’s, St James which is Church of England and the Methodist Church. There are two pubs here, the Loyal trooper, which was originally a farm house and has links to the civil war. The Leeds Arms which was extended in the 1980′s, but used to be run by a lady who served ale in jugs and was known to be quite a character.

The butchers Orchard in the Wells part of Anston, is said to be a battle ground from the civil war, however houses have been built on it.

Up to 1975, Anston and the surrounding villages came under the Kiveton and Rural district, but were taken over by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough (RMBC). This was under Edward Heath, when he created a lot of Metropolitan boroughs. To me this started the demise of Anston, as planning is carried out 12 miles away in Rotherham and Anston has become a small town with no real shopping centre. RMBC wanted to double the number of houses in Anston, but this has since been reduced by 50%. But I wouldn’t like to see one more estate built in Anston, there just aren’t enough facilities or infrastructure in the village.

The Kiveton and rural district had encouraged the local people to fund raise to build a swimming pool at Dinnington Comprehensive, which they part funded. RMBC closed this baths down a few years ago and I think this was a very grave mistake.

It would be nice to see a youth club for the children in Anston, something which was available when I was teenager.

I can remember going up to pay the rates at the Kiveton and Rural district Offices at South Anston, which was later turned into an old people’s home, which has since been closed down and is now under offer.

North Anston includes the Wells area, which is approached from Windmill Rd. The area across from the Cutler pub is known as a Pond, because the village pond used to exist here. You will find a row of shops across from the Cutler, that used to be the riding stables for Anston Hall, which is a bit further down the lane.

Anston hall

Anston Hall is now a number of private flats and residences, which must have been a really nice house at one bit and it is disappointing that it has been spoilt. At one bit United Steels owned Anston House.

Anston green

Down the side of the ponds shops, you will find Anston green. It would be nice to see this area, being used for the reason it was created 100′s of years ago. Why not celebrate the maypole and it would be nice to see a Christmas tree lighting it up.

When my parents first came out to Anston in 1966 the bus service wasn’t that good and on occasions, we had to catch the 85 to Sheffield from South Anston. During the 1970′s the bus service improved dramatically, but with de regulation, the bus service into Sheffield is now very poor. I prefer to catch the train from Kiveton Park station into Sheffield, which only takes 15/20 minutes, but can be a problem, because there aren’t enough car parking spaces.

Anston has another pub called the Little Mester. Most local people still call it the Wee Willie, which used to be a really nice glass fronted pub. During the 80′s a glass greenhouse was added to the pub and it attracted people from as far as Sheffield. During the 90′s the pub was turned into a restaurant and pub.

The Cutler pub at the top of the Baulk, used to exist on the main street in the old part of Anston, until the new Cutler pub was built in the 1960′s. But has since been turned into a number of flats.

Much of the stone for the Houses of Parliament comes from quarries in Anston and the surrounding area. One of the major quarries was where Greenland’s Park now exists. The quarry was land filled in the 1970s and turned into a Park. I can remember going on a nature trail through the old quarry, when I was at Anston Junior School.

You will find a white lady from the Palace of Westminster in the door way of South Anston Methodist church. It was replaced and given to Anston.

When Greenlands Park was first built, it had its own park keeper, who used to keep it really well-groomed. There were lots of beautiful borders, a 9 hole golf course, cricket ground and football pitch. The park was extended, after Dinnington Colliery was closed down and the old pit tip sites cleaned up.

A few years ago the park became very derelict, but there has since been a new health centre built on it. This allowed a new children’s play area to be built and sporting pavilion.

The Jewel in the crown for Anston is Anston stones, which is a site of scientific interest and stretches all the way down to Lindrick common. I will do a separate blog on this, so look out for it. I think that Anston stones was bought off a Lord somebody (I will update) for a £1, by the old rural district and passed onto Anston Parish council, when the rural district was disbanded.

I am sure that if the Kiveton and Rural district had still existed, they would have been looking at providing a better shopping area in Anston, so that the 12,000 people who live in Anston didn’t have to use the neighbouring town of Dinnington. Anston has now outgrown Dinnington, but for some reason RMBC planners, think it is acceptable for 12,000 people to have to shop 2 miles away. I personally think this is poor town planning, done by a distant bureaucracy.

Anston has a number of schools. Brook School just as you come into North Anston. Hillcrest School in South Anston. Anston Park and Greenlands schools in the heart of Anston. I think it would be better to reduce the size of the Comprehensive school in Dinnington by 50% and provide Anston with its own Comprehensive School. For some reason RMBC think bigger is better, at one stage Dinnington Comprehensive had 2,400 pupils, when I attended in the 1970′s.

Before the 1st world war Anston had its own train station on Windmill Road, but the station was removed during the 1st world war and I think it was installed some where in Scotland. It would be very easy to connect the line from Anston to Kiveton via the junction at Lindrick. I am sure that trains from Anston could be run into Sheffield, by them going over the junction at Lindrick and then back on themselves, without any major upgrade costs to the line.

I will upgrade this blog, as I remember more information, but do feel free to contact me, if you can help me improve it. I have contacted Anston parish council a number of times about an improvement to the shopping area, a Comprehensive School and a possible train link into Sheffield. Hopefully this blog will expand people’s mind on how Anston can be improved, as well as giving an insight into how Anston has changed over the years.

Best regards

Tim

www.hypnosis-sheffield.com

Dear All

A good way to increase the ranking of your web site in google, is to exchange web site links with like minded sites. There are two ways to do this, point at a site who points back at you. The other way is to point at one site and for another site to point back at you, which is called a three way link.

Which ever link exchange you choose, use a program to ensure that the link still exists. I use webconfs.com. 99% of people are honest, but a few people exchange links then remove the link when you aren’t looking. Other people remove the link by mistake and need a reminder to re-install.

Each time you exchange a link with another site, add it to the checker you set up in webconfs.com. If you do a three way link exchange, you will have to keep an additional spreadsheet, so that you can keep a track of links. If a third party link disapppears to you, you will need to check which site you pointed at and remove the link back to them.

It is best to exchange with links that are closest to the content of your site. I have found it very difficult to exchange links with other Hypnotherapists in Sheffield, I suspect they see me as a competitor and we are supposed to be in the field of helping other people. Even another Hypnotherapist who lives local to me, who I have helped in the past, sees me as a competitor now.

I have had to go further afield and exchange with other Hypnotherapists in Nottingham, but the odd one in Sheffield will exchange with me. I have had Hypnotherapists as far afield as Australia exchanging links with me.

With my web site being a health site, I also find it advantageous to link with other complimentary health sites such as: Reike, Indian head massage, Reflexology etc. I also look to exchange links with any site that is beneficial in a health way.

One of my main key words is Sheffield, so any local site I can connect with in Sheffield, is advantageous for me to link up with, to improve my search engine ranking.

The other most important criteria to increase the ranking of your web site, whether it is Hypnotherapy or other, is to ensure that you major keywords appear in your site as often as possible. I keep adding blogs written in different ways to increase the number of times my keywords appear in my site. I use googles free web tools to find my key word density and which sites point at my site.

The other major factor is ensuring that your site ranks highly, is that you have all the correct meta data for each page, so that when somebody looks for your site and it appears in a search engine, that they feel inclined to visit your site.

I suggest that you look for any social networking tools to improve your visibility and link them back to your web site.

If you will like to exchange web site links with my Hypnotherapy site, let me know.

Please try a free 20 minute relaxation recording, by clicking under the links at the top right hand side of the page. Full

www.hypnosis-sheffield.com

Dear All

I have been Lucid dreaming for over 10 years, when I first started I had to use a device called a Nova dreamer, which used to flash each time I went into Rapid Eye Movement (REM). The Nova dreamer woke me up in my dreams so I could become Lucid, however I had to look for flashing lights in normal waking reality and do a reality check.

Anything you do in normal waking life, you will do while asleep at night. If you do a reality check while awake, you will look at some writing on a piece of paper, when you look back at the writing it will still be there. But if you do the same reality check while dreaming, when you look back you will not see the text and know you are dreaming.

Rather than using a Nova dreamer mask, I now use a wrist watch with an alarm on it. I get the alarm to alarm every hour. I do a reality check by looking at a business card with “Lucid dreaming” written on it. I look away and ask myself the question “Am I dreaming or am I awake?”. I then look back at the card and ensure that it still says Lucid dreaming. I then say ” the next time I am dreaming, I will know I am dreaming and become Lucid”. I then imagine being in a Lucid dream.

I then sleep with my alarm clock beeping every hour, at some stage I will do a reality check while I am sleeping and know that I am dreaming.

I have been trying to Astral travel for quite some time, then realised that there is no difference between Lucid dreaming and Astral travel. I will say again Lucid dreaming and Astral travel are the same thing.

There are two ways to Lucid dream. One is to wake up in a dream by doing a reality check or to notice a strange event in a dream or a dream sign that happens on a regular basis. The other way to Lucid dream is to fall from normal waking consciousness into a dream, by keeping conscious focus while you drop off into a dream. You may count down from 1000 to 1, saying 1000 I am dreaming, 999 I am dreaming etc. Or you make imagine a Locus flower in your throat with a flame in the middle and focus on that until you fall asleep.

People who claim to Astral travel are doing nothing other than having a cat nap and falling into a Lucid dream. Probably people who don’t sleep enough at night.

I have recently created a Hypnotherapy recording to help people Lucid dream. It is really important to use auto suggestion and suggest you can Lucid dream tonight. I will let you use this recording if you contact me, but on the understanding that you will give me feedback on your experiences. This Lucid dream recording is free for a short period of time.

Another important way to have Lucid dreams, is to ensure that you remember your dreams, by programming your mind to do that. Dreams become more Lucid towards the end of the night. Set an alarm clock to wake you up after 4.5 hours, then every 1.5 hours after this, until you get out of bed. Have a dream diary by the side of your bed and write your dreams straight into it. REM dream phases become longer the night progresses.

Look for the dream signs that occur regularly, especially strange events that happen, such as you are flying. Then tell yourself that the next time you see something strange or one of your dream signs, that you must be dreaming.

When you first become Lucid in the dream, you may jump straight out of it in excitement. But as you become better at Lucid dreaming, you may need to imagine spinning to extend the length of the dream or tell yourself while dreaming that you can have a long dream.

You can Lucid dream about anything you want. You can learn a new skill such as playing a musical instrument, you can travel to a country you have never been to. You can travel to the future or back into the past. Your first Lucid dreams will be of a very sexual nature and this is probably because sex is repressed an awful lot, considering the images we are subjected to during the day, with slick marketing and advertisements on the TV.

If you wake up an hour early. Go about your daily routine and then go back to sleep, you increase your likelihood of having a Lucid dream. Count your self down, by saying to yourself 1000 I am dreaming, 999 I am dreaming or focus on the Lotus flower in your throat and then you will become Lucid in your dream.

Please try my free Hypnotherapy recording, by clicking under the links at the top right hand side of the page. Or purchase a full length Hypnotherapy recording on the downloads page of the site.

Until next time

Think positive.

Best regards

Tim

If Tim Wells Hypnotherapist and NLP master practitioner who is in close travelling distance of Sheffield city centre, can assist you further, please contact him on (0044) 01909 561706 or via <a
