Business Networking Club Dinnington and Anston
Dinnington and Anston are located 13 mile south of Sheffield, 11 miles from Rotherham, 17 miles from Doncaster and 6 miles from Worksop. Dinnington and Anston are just inside the South Yorkshire border, close to Nottinghamshire.
Dinnington has a population of 10,000 people and Anston a population of 12,000. Roughly speaking when combined just a little bigger than Retford. Dinnington was an old mining community and Anston a farming community. Both communities have grown together since the middle 1960’s.
There are many businesses now located on the Industrial Estates in Anston and Dinnington and the area has great potential.
The first event attracted 15 people and the 2nd event 30 people. Profits of £235 were donated to Bluebell Wood Hospice.
Due to the amount of time I was spending running the event, I had to pass the club onto Middleton Community care. The 3rd “Business club event” was run by Middleton community care (Dinnington Area Regeneration Trust), with the assistance of the Federation of Small Business’s and 45 businesses attended.
Middleton Community care cancelled the 4th meeting twice, the first time due to lack of numbers and the 2nd time, because the Manager move on. At the moment the club is on hold.
I am a bit disappointed that the club is no longer running, because it is a vision I had for six years, however I don’t feel that the true spirit of what I was attempting was taken onboard by everybody. I delivered flyers around all the traders on the High st and very few wanted to get involved with the club. I would like to thank Tierney solicitors for their excellent support, Greensheep design for offering to provide a free web site for the club and Result CD for providing free flyers.
Perhaps I will have more time in the future to restart the club and there will be more involvement from everybody in the local community. I have created face book page, if you would like to join www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/group.php?gid=119689948068099&v=wall and we can see how things go!
As well as the club being a networking event to generate extra business, the idea was to have a forum, so that good idea’s for improving the business community, could be presented to the local authority collectively. The business club was to be non-profit making and sustainable, without being dependent on any one individual and would evolve over time.

The idea of the business club is to serve the surrounding villages of: Dinnington, Anston, Beighton, Firbeck, Letwell, Carlton-in-Lindrick, Langold, Gildingwells, Maltby, Kiveton, Wales, Aston and Swallownest, Thorpe Salvin, Harthill and Woodsetts.
Why not try “I” networking at the Sitwell Arms which is at Whiston, close to Rotherham Town centre.
Roughly 40 small to medium businesses from the Rotherham area attend in a friendly environment. It is free to attend the event, but recommended to complete the following form http://www.inetwork.gr8minds.com/. The event is the first Tuesday every month. It costs £10 to do a 2 minute talk in front of the room or £20 for a five minute talk. There is ample opportunity to network with other business’s and hand out your business card.
