Why did I become a Hypnotherapist and NLP Master Practitioner in Sheffield?

In 1990 I was working for a large banking organisation based in Sheffield.   I was travelling around the country and started to suffer from panic attacks and nervous exhaustion.

I thought a transfer back into a job based in the offices would remove the stress I was suffering from, how wrong I was. The quicker I worked, the more my in tray seemed to fill up.

I was seeing my General Practitioner at the time, but he had limited knowledge and time to help me.   I used a Psychoanalyst and Hypnotherapist to help me recover.    I did consult my sister who was a sister in a hospital before going to see an Hypnotherapist, but she was extremely sceptical about it, but I had exhausted all other avenues open to me and ignored her advice.   When I did discuss that I was using a Hypnotherapist with my GP, he wasn’t very enthusiastic about me seeing a Hypnotherapist, but didn’t put me off enough, for me not to continue to see the Hypnotherapist.

What is a panic attack?   Going back to when man lived in caves, he had to be able to run away from danger.

However with the massive amounts of data we are processing nowadays with the complexity of life, this survival system is being set off when there is no real danger and over the longer term will damage our body.

I was having cold and hot sweats at night and couldn’t sleep.  I could actually feel the adrenalin pumping through my body.   My head felt as though a rusty nail was being pushed into the centre of it.

People will experience a number of different symptoms if they are suffering from panic attacks.

From being 18 to 28, I had suffered from boils around the nose area of my face, these disappeared within months of me completing the treatment.   My excessive drinking reduced from double the government recommendations within twelve months, to normal levels.

I started to gain back control of my life and a few years later got interested in the positive thinking field.
