When I am not working on my Hypnotherapy business, I like to unwind and go dancing.

I have been struggling to find a partner my own age to ballroom dance with and have found Modern Jive a good way to improve my dancing skills, enjoy myself, keep fit and meet new people.

I decided to try the Modern Jive at Harthill Village Hall last night and thoroughly enjoyed myself, in a relaxed atmosphere.

To start with we are all paired off into couples. The instructors then demonstrate the sequence of Modern Jive moves. The sequence of moves is then broken down into stages and we learn them a bit at a time. Every few minutes you change partner, so that you get a chance to dance with everybody in the room.

There is then a chance to freestyle with the partners of your choice for while, before we break for a cool drink. But I do recommend you also bringing a drink of your own, as it can become thirsty work.

We then went onto do a sequence of Rumba moves, that everybody had learnt the last few months and then there was a bit more time to freestyle.

Dancing can be a bit daunting and stressful to start with. But after a few weeks you will get into the swing of things and enjoy yourself. It can be difficult for the guys being one step ahead when leading and the ladies getting used to being spun.

I understand we will also be learning how to Salsa dance, Cha Cha Cha & Tango in future weeks.

Modern jive Harthill

Harthill Modern Jive club has proved to be very popular since it formed last October and we now have around 30 members. Most members had never danced before and believed ‘we have two left feet’! But it wasn’t long before everyone was picking up the basic moves in the beginner’s classes. The emphasis has been on ‘FUN’ dancing to uplifting music and everyone contributes to the friendly relaxed atmosphere. As well as a Modern Jive session the evenings have also included a Latin interlude which so far has introduced Rumba & Salsa moves. There are also plans to bring Cha-cha-cha, Samba & Tango into future series.

Harthill Modern Jive is now taking a summer break, but will re-open with a new series of sessions, starting on Wednesday 22nd. September. We welcome beginners – no partner required – but couples welcome. We meet 8pm – 9.30pm in Harthill Village Hall.

Not sure what is meant by Modern Jive ?

Well it’s NOT rock ‘n roll and neither is it ballroom jive. Modern Jive is more of a hybrid style – a fusion of rock and Latin influences, especially Salsa. It is sometimes referred to by other terms such as ‘Ceroc’ or ‘French Jive’.

The tempo of Modern Jive is varied so some of its attraction is that it can be danced to tunes and pop songs from across the decades. Harthill Modern Jive uses tracks from the 50′s & 60′s right through to current chart music and so has appeal to all age groups. Modern Jive appeals to those who think they have ‘two left feet’! This is because the emphasis is on hand holds, arm movements and position, rather than steps with the feet.

Modern Jive is partner dancing and the best way to learn is to regularly move on and practice moves with many different partners. In this way Modern Jive becomes very much a social event, where you meet and make friends very quickly. So whilst couples are very welcome, a partner is not essential because you are constantly moving-on in the teaching sessions. There are very few ‘wallflowers’ in Modern Jive!

So in short, Harthill Modern Jive is fun dancing for all, to a popular mix of uplifting music. It’s quite easy to learn and is good exercise too! Why not give it a try?

Relaxing Holidays in the UK

The benefits to both body and soul of a relaxing holiday are many and varied. You will not only feel physically refreshed but tiredness and stress should vanish as a result. The UK is a wonderful place in which to take a relaxing holiday and the choices are seemingly endless, from first class hotels and spa weekends through to peaceful self catering accommodation set amongst rolling hills and delightful English countryside.

The beaches of Cornwall and Devon are extremely popular as are Somerset and Dorset. Tenby and the surrounding Welsh countryside provide a range of stunning locations for a relaxing break and for both fishing and golf. With magnificent scenery such as the Giants Causeway and the rolling hills of Connemara and with so many quiet and wonderful beaches, Ireland is the place to go.

The county of Kent, known as the “Garden of England”, is another popular location in which to relax and unwind in one of the many pretty countryside villages or bustling coastal resorts.

Travel north and you will discover the largest national park in England, the Lake District. Here the opportunities to walk and to relax amidst breathtaking scenery are endless. Further north still, you will discover Scotland with its rugged highlands and beautiful lochs – a joy to visit.

Yorkshire is a delight, its coastal towns boasting superb beaches such as those to be found at Scarborough and Whitby. South Yorkshire offers a range of peaceful destinations for an enjoyable, relaxing holiday where you can enjoy bird watching, walking, strolling around museums and heritage centres.

When you have chosen your location and decided on the activities you wish to undertake, if you do your homework before your holiday commences you will be able to plan things in advance and therefore gain as much as possible from your break. Browsing the internet will enable you to check that spa facilities, amongst others, are available.

Do remember to pack your walking boots if you are an avid hiker as well as binoculars for viewing the scenery and for a little bird watching. As beautiful as England may be, holidaymakers need to be prepared for rapid changes in the climate. A beautiful sunny morning can change to a wet and chilly afternoon / evening so both warm and lightweight clothing must be packed and wet weather gear as well as sun tan lotion are essential.

Among the many benefits of holidaying at home in the UK, there are no concerns that a passing volcanic ash cloud may result in your flight being cancelled or delayed – who needs a plane when you can use the train. Alternatively, taking your car allows you to more or less take the kitchen sink with you if you wish. The currency is not a problem, you know you will enjoy the food and you don`t have to struggle to learn a few key phrases in the local language before your holiday begins!

The UK offers almost endless choices, from superb luxury www.cheaphotelbookings.com/uk-hotels/sheffield-hotels-5.htm near Sheffield to idyllic spa breaks in elegant seaside resorts dotted around the nation`s coastline. Whatever your preferences, there should be a spa, guest house, B&B, holiday cottage, hotel or camp site to suit.

What do I think about the Gastric band hypnotherapy technique for weight loss? 

In the early 1990′s I was suffering with panic attacks, after seeing a psycho analyst and then a Hypnotherapist, the issue went away.  I released the repressed issue that was causing it and the physical manifestations I was suffering with at the time also disappeared.  My drinking also moderated.   I then became interested in the Positive thinking field and retrained as a N.L.P. Master Practitioner.  I have slowly been building my Hypnotherapy business since 2001 and have gained a lot of experience working with clients since.

As I was retraining as a N.L.P. Master Practitioner, I found out that N.L.P. was Hypnotherapy with a different name and a bit more.   Successful therapists were modelled and their techniques copied.  One of the main therapists modelled was Milton Erickson, who was probably one of the most famous and successful Hypnotherapists in the world.  I have specialised on the Hypnotherapy side of my N.L.P. training and try to dismiss some of the mystique around it.

There are no quick fix solutions for reducing “Weight loss”, however Hypnotherapy if used in the correct way could be the solution.  Pure Hypnotherapy is the best way to loose weight along with other practical considerations.  There would be an amount of effort on your part, to find time on a daily basis to use the tailor made Hypnotherapy CD I produce for you.    On top of that I will be able to help you to choose a more suitable diet and find an exercise plan that is to your liking.

If you really want to deal with what is causing you to eat excessively, it isn’t going to right itself after one session of Hypnotherapy.   Hypnotherapy is going to show you how to relax more, so that when you get in stressful situations or feel bored, you can control the feelings and let go of the behaviours that they generate in you. 

Our dysfunctional behaviour that causes us to eat excessively will originate from feelings that we repressed in our past, that we couldn’t deal with at the time.   By learning how to relax properly on a daily basis, we can release the repressed feeling, learn from it and restore it in our subconscious mind, so that it no longer causes us a problem. 

I would also use visualisation to help you with your body image and would also suggest positive outcomes into your sub conscious mind, to give you more motivation to exercise and become more confident in your own body. 

I don’t believe in changing your diet over night, it can be done slowly and surely, substituting new foods that are still enjoyable to eat.   You will have greater resources to achieve this, as new ideas flow into your mind and you become more creative about “Loosing weight”.
